Heritage Science & Technology

Department of HST is dedicated to the application of Science and Technology for conservation and development of tangible and intangible Heritage assets, with a specific focus on the Indian context. Heritage includes tangible heritage like monuments, archaeological sites and intangible ones like knowledge systems, cuisine, medicine, dress, art, language, symbols, stories and much more. 

Our activities are centred around use of Science and Technology for development of Heritage assets, associated industries, technologists, scientists, entrepreneurs, professionals. 

Our goals include  

• Research to define the state of art in Heritage activities using science and technology

• Training of human resources engaged in Heritage areas 

• Product development to help Heritage industries, entrepreneurs scale up and  serve customers better

• HST Musicals - 18th March 2023 - an evening of Indian Music - performances and tech-demos. Dr. S. Chandrasekhar - Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India  will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.

• DST - SHRI has awarded IITH with a generous grant for setting up the Takshashila - Center for multi-disciplinary Heritage Science and Technology under the Department of HST, IITH !
